Looking for an outdoor adventure with the kids? Take a trip to Belhus Woods Country Park

It takes just over 30 minutes from South London (on a good run) depending from where you hail. It also involves going through the Dartford Tunnel which the kids will love!

Take a trip to South Ockendon and Belhus Woods Country Park….

Skip over the river to South Essex and this park has over 300 acres of ancient woodland, working woods, flower meadows, open grassland, fishing and conservation lakes.

Great for picnics, feeding the ducks and dog friendly. Plus you can enjoy the local activities at the park including archery and watching the model boats on a Sunday.

However, for us the real highlight is their Musical Play ground which was only added at the end of August 2018. The new play equipment is outstanding and our kids could have played there for hours.

Combine that with a walk around the lakes and it is the perfect day out. Take a look at the site map to plan your day out.

Whilst I was there, I also noticed that they do a whole host of events throughout the year including a Bat Walk, Open Air Cinema, Summer Fun Days, Picnic & Play sessions and lots more. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for updates on all their activities. Plus they run a weekly pre-schoolers activity called Puddleducks on a Wednesday.

No review of this great park could not include the mention of the M25. It’s right there in the background and the hum of cars can be heard whilst on your walk. That said whilst in the playground all you can hear is the noise of kids playing which is so much nicer!

There’s also a small visitor centre with a café so you can grab lunch.

Our kids loved every minute. It’s a great venue for a day out making special memories with your little ones.
